Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never seen a therapist before. What can I expect?

Seeing a therapist for the first time can feel intimidating, and that’s normal. I will help you feel comfortable and allow you to share things at your own pace. In our first session, I will take the time to listen to your reasons for wanting therapy, and learn a bit about your background, the important relationships in your life, and any struggles you are having. I will let you know how I believe I can help, answer any questions you might have about therapy or my approach, and you will decide if you would like to move forward.

How long does therapy last, and how frequently should I see you?

Most people see me once a week, at the same day and time. Initial consultations are an hour long, and subsequent sessions are 45 minutes. The overall length of treatment depends on many factors. Some clients are looking to delve deeply into their pasts and learn about unhelpful patterns in relationships that may have origins from their early lives; others are looking for a more solution-focused approach to acute struggles or symptoms. There is no “one size fits all” way of doing therapy, and it is my job to create a path for you that meets your needs in a timeframe that feels comfortable to you.

Do you see people in person, or conduct remote sessions?

I see clients both in-person and online. My office is conveniently located and has ample parking. You can let me know if you prefer in-person or online sessions, or a combination of both.

Do you take insurance?

I am an out of network provider, which means my sessions are not covered by insurance. However, many insurance plans provide partial reimbursement for my services. You can call your insurance provider to learn whether your plan includes out of network benefits, and if so, I will provide you with the necessary documentation to submit claims at the end of each month.

What are your fees and what forms of payment do you accept?

My current fees are $225 for a one-hour initial session, and $200 for a 45-minute therapy session. I provide a free 15-minute consultation by phone. I accept payment by Zelle, Venmo, or personal check.
